In New Orleans, the pecan was a staple of French Quarter cuisine. Whether in pies or pralines, the folks from N'Awlins love a sweet pecan. My mom used to make her famous meringue pecan treats for our family, neighbors and anyone passing through; spreading joy in each hand made batch!. When I became a mom, I wanted to continue this family recipe. I began to share these “famous” treats with my friends and family. My childhood treat became the inspiration for Geaux ("Go") Nuts. On Saturday, February 22, USA Hockey and 350 local associations across the country will host Try Hockey for Free Day! Participating locations encourage kids, ages 4 to 9, to come try youth hockey. All locations will have limited equipment available for use.
